August 30, 2018 Commander Joshua J. Sanders, USN was relieved as Commanding Officer, Navy Information Operations Command Bahrain. Commander’s Sander’s biography follows:

Commander Joshua J. Sanders received his commission through the ROTC program at Savannah State University in 1999. He graduated with a BS in Mathematics. He has had the privilege of serving in a variety of challenging Information Warfare Community and Joint assignments.

At Naval Security Group Activity (NSGA) Kunia Hawaii, he served as an Operations Watch Officer and Senior Watch Officer from 2000 to 2004. During this time, he earned a MBA from Chaminade University of Honolulu.  Following a successful tour in Hawaii, he was assigned as a student at the Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey California from 2004 to 2006, where he earned a Master’s Degree in Computer Science.  While stationed in California, he also earned the JPME Phase One certificate from the Naval War College.

From 2007 to 2010 he served at US Strategic Command Joint Functional Component Command, Network Warfare, as a Senior Battle Watch Captain, Training Officer, Operational Planning Team Lead, and as the Computer Network Operations Liaison to Multi-National Corps-Iraq in Baghdad.  From 2010 to 2012, he served at Naval Cyber Warfare Development Group (NCWDG) as the Automated Information Systems Department Head and also as a Project Manager.  While serving at NCWDG, he earned the DIWIA Level 2 Acquisition Qualification.  Furthermore, CDR Sanders was selected and assigned additional duty to Fleet Cyber Command, and Commander, Tenth Fleet as the operational lead planner for a Defensive Cyber Pilot initiative.  CDR Sanders later served on the OPNAV Staff as the Cyber Action Officer for the 2014 Quadrennial Defense Review.

From 2014 to 2015 he served as the Cryptologic Resource Coordinator (CRC) for Commander Carrier Strike Group Ten aboard USS HARRY S. TRUMAN and USS DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER. Hand selected to lead as the Operations Officer for the Navy Cyber Defense Operations Command (NCDOC), 2015-2016.  Currently serves as Commander Task Group 1050.2 and Commanding Officer NIOC Bahrain.

His personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal and the Joint Service Achievement Medal.
