Brady Kay Howell, 26, a beloved and fun-loving husband, son, brother, uncle and friend, died suddenly while working at the Pentagon on the morning of September 11, 2001, as a result of a tragic attack on the United States of America.

Born February 7, 1961, 40 years old
CDR Dan F. Shanower was born on February 7, 1961 in Naperville, Illinois. He was a member of Naperville Central High School’s varsity soccer team and graduated in 1979. He attended Carroll College in Waukesha, Wisconsin, graduating in 1983 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. While a student at Carroll, he participated in the Washington Semester at American University, interning in the office of Illinois Senator Charles Percy, then Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee.

Born January 6, 1944, 57 years old
Marvin Roger Woods, the son of a sailor, enlisted in the Navy when he was in high school and went on to serve for 23 years. When he retired from the Navy in 1984, he took a six-week vacation, then reported back to his office at the Patunxent River Naval Air Station and continued in his job as director of communications, but as a civilian.

On Monday, August 24, 2024, a three-judge panel of the US 9th Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the District Court’s decision that a two-volume 1967 House Appropriations Committee report on the attack on the USS Liberty is a Congressional record, not an Executive branch record. Concretely, that means the National Security Agency (NSA), which possesses the only known remaining copy of the report, will not be releasing it to the public.
August 31, 1950 – December 3, 1979 (Aged 29)
CTO1 John Ball, a communications supervisor and bus driver for the Navy while serving at NSGA Sabana Seca, Puerto Rico was killed by gunfire when terrorists attacked a bus he was driving. RM3 Emil White seated directly behind him was also killed and several other sailors on board the bus were injured.
