Letter Writing Campaign

Letters are now arriving from the Honorable John C. Phelan, Secretary of the Navy, regarding the naming of a ship after Senior Chief Kent. According to the SECNAV, “Please be assured that your suggestion has been formally received. It will be given full and earnest consideration as I consider the names of ships in construction and select the names for the next generation of naval ships.”

OTD 1960: USS Tridton (SSRN/SSN 586) Made History

On February 24, 1960, USS Triton (SSRN/SSN-586) made history as the first submarine to circumnavigate the globe entirely submerged. Commanded by Captain Edward L. “Ned” Beach, Jr., the groundbreaking mission demonstrated the endurance and strategic capability of the nuclear-powered submarine force. CTMC William Hadley was among the crew members on this historic deployment.

53 Years Ago today the National Security Operations Center as National Security Agency was Established

The National Security Operations Center (NSOC) was inaugurated formally with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on February 21, 1973.  In a formal message announcing this even, the Director observed: “The National SIGINT Operation Center, although still evolving, is a significant milestone in the continuing development of a coherent and responsive SIGINT System for the United States.

First CT’s Ever on Battleship in Med – Pride Runs Deeper than the Deep Blue Seas

Recently (1983) the NCS Combat DIRSUP Team who served aboard the USS NEW JERSEY (BB 62) returned home.  After 77 days at sea, our deployment CT’s marked another historical milestone.  They were the first CT’s ever to serve aboard a battleship in support of Eastern Mediterranean fleet activities.

With heavy hearts and deep respect, we bid farewell to John Kinsel Sr. (January 22, 1917 – October 19, 2024) a revered elder, and one of the last surviving Navajo Code Talkers.
