Obituary:

Captain David B. Carson, USN (Ret), 59, East Greenwich, RI, passed away suddenly on July 16, 2026.  Born in Falls Church, VA, the son of Joseph and Carol (Dolansky) Carson. 

He was a graduate of Bishop Carroll High School class of 1985.  There he excelled academically and in athletics.  He was Captain of the football team and was selected for an appointment to the United States Naval Academy.  He reported to the academy in 1985.  He served as the 17th Company Commander first semester in his senior year at the academy.  He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with merit.  Upon graduation with the Class of 1989, he was commissioned as a Navy Ensign. 

He went on to serve at many duty stations as Officer in Charge, Executive Officer and Commanding Officer.  During his career he earned two additional Master of Science Degrees in Electrical Engineering Space Systems Concentration and National Resource Strategy, Acquisition and Information Operations Concentration.  Dave lived a life of service.  He was a devoted, loving husband, mentor and dedicated Naval Officer for 30 years.  Dave served with integrity, compassion and an uncanny attention to detail.  He was well respected, sought after for his intellect and had a sense of humor and dry wit that made those around him laugh aloud. 

Dave will be deeply missed by those who served with him and those who dearly loved him.  Predeceased by his father; brother, Ted; paternal grandparents, Joseph and Helen Carson; and maternal grandparents, John and Mary Dolansky.  He is survived by his loving wife, Heather A. Carson (Mervosh) whom he married in Monterey, California in October, 1996; his loving mother, Carol,  Northern Cambria; brother, Joseph (Paula Morris), St. Leonard, MD; and sister, Annette, Carrolltown, PA.  Dave was an uncle to Kristin (Patrick) Karalus, Joey (Noelle) Carson, Zachary and Connor Carson; and great-uncle to Carson, Sophia, and Isabella Karalus; and Gabrielle Carson.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 10, 2026, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Northern Cambria. Msgr. Stanley Carson officiating.   Burial with military honors will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a future date.  Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria in charge of arrangements.
