NIOC Pensacola Sets Gold Standard for Reserve Integration

PENSACOLA, Fla. — Navy Information Operations Command (NIOC) Pensacola recently completed a successful mobilization exercise with a Navy Reserve Cyber Protection Team (CPT), demonstrating the Navy’s commitment to integrating Reserve expertise into critical cyber operations.  Conducted over two 2-week periods between June and August 2025, the exercise brought together Sailors from across the Navy Reserve Information Warfare (IW) Community to Pensacola to enhance their team’s readiness and seamlessly incorporate them into the command’s Defensive Cyber Operations (DCO) mission.

U.S. Fleet Cyber Command / U.S. Navy Space Command / U.S. 10th Fleet Establish New Command

U.S. Fleet Cyber Command (FCC), U.S. Navy Space Command and U.S. 10th Fleet established a new command on Aug. 14, Cyber Group-One (CG-1), located in Wahiawa, Hawaii. CG-1 will assume oversight of Cyber Mission Forces (CMF) in the Indo-Pacific region; responsibilities previously managed by Navy Information Operations Command Pacific (NIOC PAC).

From Data to Decisions: Building a Culture of Information Literacy

Nobody Asked Me, But . . .

Students at military academies are learning to lead in a world defined by information warfare. The ability to search for, critically assess, interpret, and use information is a mission-essential skill. While the military has long focused on physical and technical training, information literacy often is an afterthought. Many students receive little formal instruction on how to evaluate information sources, distinguish credible data from misinformation, and use insights effectively. Lacking these vital skills can compromise their decision-making in operational settings. In a time when adversaries can manipulate and twist information to deceive and disrupt, the lack of strong information literacy skills can leave even the best-trained service members vulnerable to misinformation and prone to poor judgment.

NCDOC’s TRIDENT Training Center Opens

Navy Cyber Defense Operations Command (NCDOC) held a ribbon cutting ceremony on May 9, supported by Naval Information Forces (NAVIFOR) and Naval Network Warfare Command (NNWC) leaders to officially open TRIDENT – Technical Readiness in Defensive Cyber Operations {DCO} Education and Network Training – Center for NCDOC and NNWC personnel.
