NSGA Bainbridge Island, WA, Disestablished, March 15, 1953

In 1930, OP-20-G planners selected the 13th Naval District, which included Oregon, Washington, and Alaska, as well as Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming, as a prospective location for two new intercept sites: one, a large site to cover Japanese point-to-point traffic with Europe and China on low and high frequencies during wartime.  The other was a small site in Alaska (“but not in the islands”) to cover Japanese ship-to-shore communications in both peace and war.

This photograph was taken in front of a captured Japanese Navy Communications facility.  The U.S. Marines, 3rd Radio Intelligence Platoon took over the station and used as communications interception facility. Pictured are Marines and Navy Radio Intelligence personnel.

Navy Intends to Ramp Up Shipbuilding Through Collaborative Efforts

Seidle, deputy assistant secretary of the Navy for research, development, and acquisition, who testified today at a House Armed Services Committee’s seapower and projection forces subcommittee hearing on the state of U.S. shipbuilding.

NAVSECGRU’s BIRTHDAY – 90 Years Today!!

Selecting a birthdate for the Naval Security Group was somewhat like trying to determine when several people had the same thoughts at the same time. The Naval Security Group was not born on one particular day and promulgated by an official directive; it was born in men’s minds and finally culminated in an organization with official status.
