Captain James H. Henderson-Coffey, U.S. Navy (Retired), exemplifies the very best traditions of naval service, leadership, and professional excellence. Born in Kentucky and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he enlisted in the United States Navy in 1979 and embarked on a remarkable career spanning more than four decades. His journey from enlisted Sailor to Navy Captain is a testament to determination, professionalism, and a lifelong commitment to service. He was advanced to Chief Petty Officer in 1992 and earned his commission through the Navy’s Limited Duty Officer (LDO) program in 1996.

Vice Adm. Timothy White, commander U.S. Fleet Cyber Command/U.S. 10th Fleet (FCC/C10F) receives his 3rd star from his wife, Rebecca, during a promotion ceremony held at FCC/C10F headquarters. Located on 1,135 acres near the west Texas community of San Angelo, Goodfellow Air Force Base trained thousands of cryptologists since 1966. First called Navy Communication Training Center (NCTC) Detachment Goodfellow, the command was renamed in 1973 to Naval Technical Training Center (NTTC) Detachment, Goodfellow. In 2016, the name changed again to the Center Information Warfare Training (CIWT) Detachment, Goodfellow.

The U.S. Embassy in Beirut became a tragic symbol of the growing violence against Americans in Lebanon during the early 1980s. On April 18, 1983, a suicide bomber attacked the embassy compound, killing 63 people, including 17 Americans, and wounding several others. Six months later, on October 23, 1983, a suicide truck bombing of the U.S. Marine barracks at Beirut International Airport killed 241 American service members—220 Marines, 18 Sailors, and three Soldiers. Together, these attacks demonstrated the grave dangers faced by American diplomats and military personnel serving in Beirut during Lebanon’s civil war.
They came in peace, but were killed while serving their country. The names listed below are provided by the U.S. Embassy in Beirut in remembrance of those who lost their lives.

Captain Ward Boston, Jr., JAGC, USN (1923–2008) was a U.S. Navy pilot, lawyer, and senior legal counsel for the Navy’s 1967 Court of Inquiry into the Israeli attack on the USS Liberty. He later stated that the inquiry was rushed and claimed superiors ordered a false conclusion that the attack was a mistake. The following is his declaration:
