Dear Station HYPO Contributors and Readers,
I wanted to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude for your contributions and readership during Women’s History Month.
Your efforts have helped shine a light on the many remarkable women who have contributed to the military, and your contributions have been invaluable supporting Station HYPO to share women’s achievements.
As Station HYPO looks ahead, I am excited to announce that Station HYPO will be asking for nominations for women who have served or are serving in the military, specifically Cryptology and Information Warfare, to be honored during Women’s History Month in 2024.
This is an important opportunity to recognize and celebrate the incredible contributions that women have made to our armed forces, and I hope that you will consider nominating yourself or someone you know who has made a difference.
Once again, I want to express my heartfelt thanks to all of you for your support and commitment celebrating the achievements of women. Your efforts are truly appreciated!
Sincerely,
Mario Vulcano

When I served (1964 – 1968), I always felt that the women in uniform were vastly underappreciated. I could go on for hours giving examples of that. God bless you Mario, and thank you for the excellent and very appropriate articles.

This past month has been an exceptional one with the articles and biographies you’ve enlightened us with on Station HYPO, Mario! I’ve enjoyed reading every one of these informative histories!
You have a fantastic blog and a world-beater organization supporting you.
Reading these stories over the past month (and some earlier HYPO stories on women in cryptology and in our armed services) led to my reexamining my own time in the service. I went into the Navy with a bit of a chip on my shoulder about “nurses.” I inherited that from my late father. He very much enjoyed working with corpsmen—in days when virtually all “corpsmen” were men. My dad, however, was a strong believer that “a woman’s place is in the home.”
I celebrated my seventy-fifth birthday this month. I’m delighted my birthday falls in Women’s History Month.
Great work with the Station HYPO blog, Mario!
Thank you, Mario for all you do for our country, our planet, all of humanity, and for your family.

I too have enjoyed rrading the articles on these women. I joined the Navy in 1973. Was a CTM. I guess my claim to fame was being the 1st female CTMC and then first female CWO in Cryptology. Glad to see so many more opportunities for women in Cryptology. I’m very proud of these women and their accomplishments. We have come a long way!
