LTJG Marks has served in the U.S. Navy since 2011. Her biography follows.
Lieutenant Junior Grade Marks is a native of Miami, Florida, and graduate of Florida State University, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in English and Philosophy. She reported to US Navy Recruit Training Command Great Lakes in August 2011. She received her commission in December 2019, via Officer Candidate School. Following her commissioning, she reported to Pensacola, Florida, in February 2020, where she completed Cryptologic Officer training at Information Warfare Training Command, Corry Station.
Upon completion of Cryptologic Warfare Officer training she reported to Navy Cyber Defense Operations Command (NCDOC), Suffolk, Virginia where she served as Task Force 1020 Battle Watch Captain, where she led a globally-distributed team of analysts and operators from across the Information Warfare Community as they executed Defensive Cyber Operations in support of United States Cyber Command and the Navy. She also was the Cyber Discovery and Analysis division officer. Her division was responsible for indications and warnings to support Task Force 1020.1. Her division’s other lines of effort were to provide training, quality control of products and reach back support to the CTF 1020.1. Perform discovery and conduct advanced analysis on possible intrusions into the Navy’s information system. Lastly, to analyze common vulnerabilities and exposures (CVE) and provide analysis of its impacts to the Navy.

Additional assignments while enlisted include USS Bataan (LHD-5), Norfolk, Virginia, where she served as OT division’s lead EW technician. She completed two deployments on USS Bataan (LHD-5) to 6th, and 5th Fleet areas of responsibility. In 2017, Ensign Marks transferred to Commander Sixth Fleet, Naples, Italy, where she served as the lead OPELINT Analyst for the Maritime Information Operations Center.

Lieutenant Junior Grade Marks’ wears a number of military awards, and is an Electronic Warfare (EW) Warfare and Tactics Instructor (WTI). Her decorations include the Navy Achievement Medal (five awards), Battle “E” (two awards), Good Conduct (two awards), NATO Meritorious Service Medal and various service awards. In her spare time, she runs, reads, and hangs out with her husband and daughter.

In USMC we would have called her a “mustang” = a commissioned officer who came up through the ranks & had served as EM prior to receiving her commission. Way to go LT.
