RM2 Jerry Boyd Farr
June 11, 1950 – May 17, 1987

Born June 11, 1950, in Charleston to Wilson P. and Lois Bockstedt Farr, Jerry Farr graduated from St. Johns High School in 1970. RM2 Jerry Farr had been stationed on the USS Stark (FFG 31) less than two months before the ship was attached on May 17, 1987. Initially the attacking aircraft was reported as an Iraqi Mirage F1 fighter aircraft that fired two Exocet missiles. However, later reporting asserted the attacking aircraft was a Falcon 50 business jet which had been modified with a radar and missile hardpoints to carry two AM-39 Exocet missiles for anti-shipping operations.

A total of thirty-seven Sailors were killed or later died as a result of the attack, and twenty-one were injured. He served 17 years in the Navy as a Radioman.
