On May 21, 2021, Captain Bernard”Tom” O’Neill was relieved by Commander W. Karl Pauli as Commanding Officer, Cryptologic Warfare Maritime Activity SIXTY ONE. Commander Pauli’s biography follows:

Commander Pauli is a native of Leominster, Massachusetts, graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science in 2003. He earned a Master of Arts in Diplomacy from Norwich University.

His previous operational tours include deployments with Amphibious Squadron 4 embarked on USS KEARSARGE (LHD 3) supporting Operation INHERENT RESOLVE; and USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT (CVN-71) supporting Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.

Commander Pauli’s shore tours include Intelligence Junior Officer Detailer at Navy Personnel Command; Senior Intelligence Watch Officer (SIWO) and Partnership, Strength, and Presence (PSP) Chief at Naval Forces Central Command; and J2 Executive Assistant, Executive Support Team Chief, and China Watch Officer at U.S. Pacific Command.

Commander Pauli most recently served as the Deputy Commander (DCO) at JSOC Intelligence Brigade as of June 2019. The JSOC Intelligence brigade is comprised of over 850 personnel that provide intelligence analysis, exploitation, and collection in support of Joint Special Operations Task Forces executing sensitive special operations worldwide.

He wears the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (3), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, and various other personal and unit awards.
