NSGA Homestead, Florida Closed, June 9, 1993

U.S. Naval Security Group Activity (NSGA) Homestead was commissioned in June, 1957 and was disestablished and closed on June 9, 1993, after being virtually demolished by Hurricane Andrew on August 24, 1992.

Remembering the Crew of the USS Liberty

On June 8 1967, the USS Liberty (AGTR 5) was attacked in international waters by Israeli forces killing 34 Americans and wounding another 171.  Seven out of every 10 crew members was either killed or injured.  Let us remember those who were killed and those who survived, including their families – many have physical and emotional scars that they will carry for the rest of their lives.

The Long Blue Line: Master Chief Bell—Minority Pioneer, Pacific War Hero and FRC Namesake

In September 2018, Master Chief Melvin Kealoha Bell (USCG, ret’d) crossed the bar at the age of 98. He was a patriot whose distinguished career in service of his country spanned 65 years.

The Inside Story of the Battle of Midway and the ousting of Commander Rochefort, By Captain Laurance F. Safford

The Battle of Midway (3-8 June 1942) was fought as a sea-battle rather than an amphibious operation because of information furnished by the Communications Intelligence Organization in April and May, 1942.
