CTI1 John Howard Potts, USN
August 24, 1942 – April 15, 1969

CTI1 John Howard Potts was a Korean linguist.  John received his initial training in Korean at Yale University courtesy of the U. S. Air Force.  Following his first enlistment with the Air Force, he reenlisted in the U.S. Navy as Communications Technician- Interpreter (CTI), Korean Linguist.  John served in Okinawa, Japan in the Joint Sobe Processing Center and Naval Communications Station Philippines at San Miguel.  During his tour at San Miguel, John spent considerable time in Da Nang, earning 10 Air Medals.  He had recently been reassigned to Kamiseya when the shootdown occurred.

John would have been 77 years old today.
