The Battle of the Coral Sea, fought from 4–8 May 1942, was a major naval battle between the Imperial Japanese Navy and naval and air forces from the United States and Australia, taking place in the Pacific Theater of World War II. The following is a post mission report from a Radio Intelligence Unit onboard USS Yorktown (CV 5) that participated in this historic battle.

What an interesting read! Thank you for publishing it! As a person who made the transition from HF to SatCom I understood this completely, but I wonder if today’s intercept operators have this same background. Hope they do!
