LCDR Legg’s biography follows:

LCDR James “Jim” L. Legg, USN
October 24, 1994 – Present

LCDR James “Jim” L. Legg enlisted in the United States Navy on 24 October 1994.  Upon completion of recruit training, he reported to Naval Technical Training Center, Pensacola, FL for Class “A” school for the Cryptologic Technician Administrator (CTA) rating.  After 12 years as an enlisted Sailor, LCDR Legg earned his commission, in May 2006, through State University of New York, College at Brockport.  After four years as a Surface Warfare Officer, LCDR Legg redesignated into the Information Warfare Community as an Cryptologic Warfare Officer.  He completed his Bachelors of Science degree in African and African-American Studies, having the opportunity to study abroad in Ghana, Africa.  LCDR Legg obtained his Masters of Science Degree, through University of Maryland University College, with a concentration Intelligence Management and the Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) programs.

He has competed numerous overseas tours to include; Naval Security Group Activity, Edzell, Scotland; Naval Security Group Activity, Menwith Hill Station, Harrogate, England;  and Naval Security Group Detachment, London, England where he also completed a 6 month rotation as U.S. NAVEUR Chief of Staff Writer while Headquartered in London, England.  His stateside tours include tours in; NTTC Corry Station Staff, Pensacola, FL; BOOST/NSI, Newport, RI; University of Rochester NROTC Unit, Rochester, NY; Navy Information Operations Command (NIOC), Norfolk, VA; and NIOC Maryland where he was assigned to the National Security Agency (NSA).  He has also served at sea on the East Coast while assigned aboard USS COLE (DDG 67) and USS BATAAN (LHD 5).  LCDR Legg’s last assignment was at on Chief of Naval Operations Staff (OPNAV) N2/N6F3 as a Requirements Officer for the Surface Information Warfare Exploit Programs of Record.  He served as Cryptologic Warfare Group SIX (CWG-6) Directorate/Deputy Directorate Head for Access and Capabilities Directorate and the Deputy Branch Chief, Cyber Effects & Operations Planning and Mission Integration-Regional/Component Branches at NSA.

LCDR Legg currently serves as the Senior Advisor to Cryptologic Warfare Activity SIXTY SEVEN (CWA-67) Commanding and Executive Officers, and as Deputy Branch Chief, Mission Integration-Component at NSA.  He is also a Corporate Fellow with Hiring our Heroes and works in Business Operations for Point3 Federal in Baltimore, MD.

His hobbies include spending quality time with his family, volunteering with children’s youth sports programs, religion, golf, reading, and cultural studies research.

In addition to serving his country, LCDR Legg enjoys serving his community, volunteering his time as a 19U Colt League Baseball Commissioner and Manager, and as one of his neighborhood community’s Board of Directors.  He has also served on the Anne Arundel County Public Schools Parent Involvement Advisory Committee (PIAC) and was a Coordinator with Dads of Great Students (WATCH D.O.G.S.).  He is active in his sons’ other school and daughter’s developmental advancement activities.

His awards include; Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (6th award), Good Conduct Medal (3rd award), Military Outstanding Volunteer Award (2nd award), and a myriad of other personal and unit awards, as well as Individual and Team Awards from the National Security Agency.  He was selected as his Product Line’s Junior Officer Military Performer of the Year, 2012; Signals Intelligence Directorate’s Junior Officer Military Performer of the Quarter, 3rd Quarter, 2012; Enlisted Sailor of the Quarter, 4th Quarter 1999; and Enlisted Sailor of the Year, 1999.

LCDR Legg has been married to, and receives his best support from, his best friend, Kimberly Anne (Williams) Legg, since 06 December 1997.  They have three wonderful sons; Jimmy-22, Tanner-18, and Bryce-15 and a beautiful daughter; Genevieve-4.  They reside in Arnold, Maryland.
