Tomorrow Commander Paul Lashmet will be relieved by Commander Eduardo Salazar as Commanding Officer Navy Information Operations Command Pensacola.  Commander Lashmet’s next assignment will be the U.S. Air Force Air War College, Maxwell AFB. Commander Paul Lashmet was born in Chicago, IL and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He is the 13th Commanding Officer (CO) of Navy Information Operations Command (NIOC) Pensacola.

Commander Lashmet graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy with a B.S. in English (with merit) and was commissioned as an ensign (Special Duty Cryptology) in 1998.  He also attended the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, California, and in 2005 was awarded an M.S. in Electrical Engineering.  While at the Postgraduate School, he was selected as the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command Award for Electronic Systems Engineering.

Commander Lashmet’s previous tours include duty with Naval Security Group Activity in Yokosuka, Japan, Navy Information Operations Command Fort Meade, Maryland, USS ESSEX (LHD 2), Task Force 70/Carrier Strike Group FIVE, and United States Cyber Command.  He also served as the Officer in Charge, Navy Information Operations Detachment Seoul, Republic of Korea.

Commander Lashmet wears both the Information Dominance Warfare pin and Surface Warfare pin, the latter earned while serving onboard USS ESSEX, forward deployed to the Western Pacific.

Commander Lashmet has been awarded the Defense Meritorious Service Medal (second award), Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (second award), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (fourth award), and numerous unit and campaign medals.

Commander Lashmet is married to Ms. Bethany West of Tucson, AZ and they have two children.
