May 4, 2018, Captain Boswyck Offord was relieved by Captain Michael “Mike” Elliot as Commanding Officer/Commander National Security Agency/Central Security Service Hawaii.  Captain Elliot’s biography follows:

Captain Mike Elliot is a native of Portland, Maine.  He graduated in 1995 from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (Massachusetts) earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering; graduated from the Naval War College in 2008 earning a Master’s of Arts Degree in National Security and Strategic; and graduated from the Joint Force Staff College in 2016 completing qualification as a Joint Staff Officer.  He was commissioned in 1996 through Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, Florida.

Captain Elliot’s shore assignments included U.S. Naval Security Group Activity Yokosuka Japan, as a surface cryptologic direct support division officer, division officer and department head (1998-2001); Naval Information Operations Command (NIOC) Maryland/Task Force 1060 as director of operations (2010-2012); Chief of Naval Operations Director for Information Warfare (OPNAV N2N6) as deputy executive assistant (2015-2016); and National Security Agency/Central Security Service as a chief staff officer and deputy office chief (2016-2018).

Captain Elliot’s fleet operational tours included assignments as ship’s signals Intelligence officer, USS KITTY HAWK (CV 63) (2002-2004), home-ported in Yokosuka, Japan; information operation staff officer, Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet (2004-2007); and cryptologic resource coordinator, Commander, U.S. THIRD Fleet (2008-2010).

Captain Elliot’s joint operational tours included assignment as information operations staff officer, Joint Task Force 519 (2005-2007); staff officer, U.S. Cyber Command Expeditionary Cyber Support Element Afghanistan, forward deployed to Bagram, Afghanistan (2012); and Commander, Cyber National Mission Team Two (2012-2013).

Captain Elliot’s commanded NIOC Yokosuka, Japan/Task Group 1070.2 (2013-2015), and NIOC Misawa, Japan/Task Group 1070.1 (2014).

Captain Elliot’s decorations include the Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Serve Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards) and various unit awards.
