Commander Alexander graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Ocean Engineering. He was designated a Naval Flight Officer in March 1999 with follow-on training at the S-3B Viking Fleet Replacement Squadron (FRS), VS-41, before reporting to his first fleet squadron.
While attached to the VS-22 Checkmates, he completed two combat deployments to the Mediterranean and Northern Arabian Gulf onboard USS HARRY S. TRUMAN (CVN 75), where he flew combat missions in support of Operation Southern Watch and Operation Iraqi Freedom. He also embarked on USS NIMITZ (CVN 68), flying missions in support of operations in and around South America. In 2003, he reported back to VS-41 as a flight instructor, training newly winged pilots and Naval Flight Officers to fly the S-3B Viking. While attached to VS-41, he earned an Executive Masters in Business Administration from the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) and was selected for a transition to the EA-6B Prowler community. After three years in the Prowler community, CDR Alexander reported to Monterey, CA where he earned a Master of Science in Information Warfare Systems Engineering from NPS and was selected for re-designation to the Information Warfare community.
Commander Alexander’s first IW assignment was at NIOC Hawaii, where he served as the Future Operations Department Head and Deputy Chief of Operations for NSA Hawaii. In 2012, he reported to Commander Amphibious Squadron THREE as the Cryptologic Resource Coordinator and Deputy Information Warfare Commander, leading cryptologic operations while deployed onboard USS PELELIU (LHA 5) in the Fifth and Seventh Fleet Areas of Responsibility. From 2014 to 2015, he led the global defense of all Navy networks as the Operations Officer at Navy Cyber Defense Operations Command (NCDOC). Commander Alexander served as the Commanding Officer of Navy Information Operations Command Colorado from June 2015 to December 2017 and will be reporting next to OPNAV N2N6.
