Master Chief Ricardo V. Galvan has served as the Command Master Chief at Cryptologic Warfare Group SIX, Maryland (CTF 1060) since December 2016.  Master Chief Galvan’s biography follows:

Command Master Chief Galvan, a native of Napa, California, enlisted in the Navy in 1991. Following graduation from basic training, he reported to Naval Technical Training Command, Corry Station and Pensacola, Florida, where he completed Electronic Warfare Operator “A” School.

Upon graduation, he reported for duty to USS McCLUSKY (FFG 41) and twice deployed with the USS INDEPENDENCE (CV 61) Battle Group in support of Operation SOUTHERN WATCH. In 1996, he reported to USS ASHLAND (LSD 48) and deployed with the USS GUAM (LPH 9) Amphibious Readiness Group to the Mediterranean Sea. In 1999, he reported to Navy Recruiting District Richmond, Virginia and served as a recruiter for three years. In 2002, he reported to USS SAN JACINTO (CG 56) and deployed with the USS HARRY S. TRUMAN (CVN 75) in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM.

In 2003, he reported to USS MAHAN (DDG 72) where he twice deployed to the Mediterranean Sea in support of Standing Naval Forces, Mediterranean, and Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. Upon return to shore duty, he reported to Navy Information Operations Command, Georgia, as the Direct Support Leading Chief Petty Officer and Command Administrative and Readiness Leading Chief Petty Officer.

In 2009, he reported to USS RONALD REAGAN (CVN 76) and twice deployed to the Persian Gulf in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. In February 2012, he graduated from the Senior Enlisted Academy, Class 164 and reported to the Center for Information Dominance Unit Corry Station where he served as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader. In December 2012, he graduated from the CMC/COB Course. In May 2014, he reported to USS ROSS (DDG 71) and deployed four times in support of theater ballistic missile defense operations and Operation INHERENT RESOLVE. In December 2016, he reported to his current assignment as Command Master Chief for Cryptologic Warfare Group SIX, Maryland.

His decorations include the Navy Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (5 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (6 awards), and various unit and campaign awards.
