The United States Naval Academy will name its new cyber building after RADM Grace Hopper.
From the article by the Capital Gazette:
“The Naval Academy will name its new cyber building after a Navy rear admiral seen as the “mother of computing” — making it the first building named for a woman at a major service academy, the academy announced Thursday.
The building will be named after Rear Adm. Grace Hopper, an American computer scientist who worked on the first computer, the Harvard Mark 1, during World War II.”
“Adm. Hopper’s foresight in computing and pioneering contributions to cyber security … will inspire midshipmen, support their technical and professional development, and serve as a role model to encourage midshipmen ingenuity and determination for many years to come,” Carter said in a statement released prior to the announcement.”
